BMW Group Surpasses 3 Million Electrified Vehicles Worldwide, Expands Growth in Korea

by 오카라 2025. 9. 4.

BMW Group has reached a major milestone in its electrification journey. On August 27, at its Munich plant, the company delivered a BMW 3 Series Plug-in Hybrid to a customer, marking the official handover of its 3 millionth electrified vehicle. Notably, more than 1.5 million of these vehicles are fully electric, underlining the central role that electrified models now play in the brand’s portfolio.

Over 25% of Sales in 2025 Are Electrified Models

In the first half of 2025, electrified vehicles accounted for more than 25% of BMW Group’s global sales. This means that at least one out of every four cars delivered was either a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or a battery electric vehicle (BEV). For a premium automaker, such rapid growth highlights a decisive shift toward sustainable mobility.

Europe Leads the Charge

Europe remains BMW Group’s largest market for electrified vehicles. Over 60% of the company’s global electrified sales came from this region, and more than 40% of all BMWs sold in Europe are now electrified. Particularly in 2025, plug-in hybrids have gained strong traction, driving significant year-over-year growth across the continent.

Strong Growth in the Korean Market

The momentum is equally clear in Korea. From January to July 2025, BMW Korea sold 6,846 electrified models, representing an 18.3% increase compared to the same period last year. MINI also recorded strong progress, delivering 825 electrified vehicles during the same period — all of them fully electric. This means that one out of every five MINI cars sold in Korea in 2025 was a fully electric vehicle, signaling the successful establishment of a robust EV lineup.

Expanding Charging Infrastructure

BMW Group Korea is not only expanding its product lineup but also reinforcing the charging ecosystem. Under the “Charging Next” initiative, announced in 2023, the company has already installed 2,500 charging points nationwide and aims to reach 3,000 units by the end of this year. This infrastructure build-up further strengthens BMW’s leadership in the premium EV market and enhances convenience for customers.

A Vision for Sustainable Mobility

BMW Group’s electrification efforts go beyond sales numbers. By broadening customer choice, maintaining the brand’s driving pleasure, and investing in advanced infrastructure, the company is redefining what it means to own an electric vehicle.

Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management for BMW Brand and Sales, emphasized: “In the first half of 2025, more than one in four BMW Group vehicles delivered worldwide was electrified. Surpassing 3 million deliveries proves that electrified models are a core element of our product strategy.”

BMW Group’s achievement of 3 million electrified vehicles is more than just a sales milestone. It is a statement about the future direction of mobility — sustainable, innovative, and customer-focused. With strong global momentum and rapid adoption in Korea, BMW is poised to lead the next chapter of the electric era.
